CABALLO VIEJO FARM · COOKVILLE, TN

About Us

More than any business, this means documenting a dream.

From Venezuela to the hills of Tennessee

Caballo Viejo began in 2013 in Sanford, Florida — born from the search for open space for our first dog, a Great Pyrenees named Blizzard. What started as a place for him to run became something much bigger: a life project. Seven years ago we moved to the mountains of Cookeville, Tennessee, where the farm has grown to more than double its original size in land and animals. Today Caballo Viejo is our home, our meeting place, and our connection to the land.

The name comes from the beloved Venezuelan folk song by Simón Díaz — "Tío Simón" — who left us a great legacy not only as an artist but as a human being. To us, Caballo Viejo is the story of life itself, summarized in two verses and a chorus. Simple, beautiful — a love story told through the metaphor of a horse moving through youth and into its twilight.

Our philosophy

We believe animals were created as part of a natural balance. At Caballo Viejo, our animals live in their natural habitat, respected for what they are. We show them as they are — free, happy and surrounded by the nature they belong to.

The Dream

"Caballo Viejo is a life project that begins with an idea and slowly takes shape. It was born from an immense nostalgia for my country Venezuela, for my people, my family and my traditions. A place where man, flora and fauna coexist in the most simple, organic and spontaneous way possible."
